Kenmare Bay with the McGillycuddy Reeks and Carrauntoohil in the distance

Welcome to the web site of Kenmare Walking Club. Whether you are a current member or a browsing guest interested in walking we hope you find the site of interest.

Founded in the 1980s the club has grown from strength to strength and today has a permanent membership of around 100 regular walkers and many non-members join us annually on our organised walks. (Non-members are asked to contact walk leaders beforehand.)

Kenmare is situated in the middle of the most impressive mountain ranges in Ireland and the highest peak, Carrauntoohil, is a regular parking spot for the club!

Please check out the calendar of events.

For the summer and autumn of 2010 we again have a varied programme with camping, a night hike, safety training and island trips to the Skellig and Aran islands as well as our usual A+B outings.

For the months of June and July we have introduced Tuesday evening walks.

These will be on the byways and tracks around the Kenmare area and will be approx 2 hours in duration. These will be "Shoesday-Tuesday" walks, in that Boots will not be required, and will be an opportunity to get to know our locality. Note: Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Meet at the Square at 7:00pm. Everyone Welcome!
